The events leading up to the arrest

On Tuesday afternoon (21 February 2023), a primary school girl was seriously injured in an apartment building on Mozartstrasse in Duisburg-Aldenrade. According to initial investigations, the 32-year-old suspect is said to have attacked the girl with a knife for as yet unknown reasons. The girl was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Thanks to the quick response of the emergency services, the police were able to arrest the suspect at the scene.

Extensive investigation

The Duisburg public prosecutor's office and the Duisburg police have now launched extensive investigations. The background to the act is still unclear. The girl is currently unable to be questioned due to her injuries. The suspect is also currently unable to be questioned due to his state of health. The investigations are ongoing.
