Washington ruled out starting quarterback Carson Wentz due to injury

LANDOVER, Md. -- The Washington Commanders have announced their list of inactive players for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and it includes starting quarterback Carson Wentz, who has been ruled out due to a right ankle injury.

In addition to Wentz, the Commanders will also be without wide receiver Curtis Samuel (groin), running back J.D. McKissic (neck), defensive end Chase Young (knee), defensive tackle Phidarian Mathis (knee), cornerback William Jackson III (back), and offensive tackle Sam Cosmi (thumb).

Heinicke will start at quarterback for Washington

With Wentz out, Taylor Heinicke will get the start at quarterback for Washington. Heinicke has started 15 games for the Commanders over the past two seasons, going 7-8 as a starter. He has thrown for 3,417 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions during that span.

In addition to the seven players who have been ruled out, the Commanders also have several players who are questionable for Sunday's game, including wide receiver Terry McLaurin (ankle), running back Antonio Gibson (knee), and defensive end Montez Sweat (non-injury related).
