The GCU women's basketball team rallied from a nine-point deficit in the second half to defeat rival ASU 64-56 on Saturday afternoon at GCU Arena.

The Lopes (9-2) trailed 44-35 with 7:09 remaining in the third quarter, but they closed the period on a 10-0 run to tie the game heading into the fourth.

GCU then outscored ASU (7-6) 27-12 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

Senior guard Kiara Russell led the Lopes with 18 points, while junior forward Taylor Caldwell added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

ASU was led by junior guard Jade Loville, who scored 17 points.

The victory was GCU's second over ASU in the last three meetings.

The Lopes will return to action on Wednesday when they host Weber State at GCU Arena.
