Eagles’ Mailata to Spend Christmas with Family in Australia
Bleacher Report
PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata will spend Christmas with his family in Australia this year, the team announced Wednesday. It will be his first time back home since 2019.
Mailata, 25, is in his fifth season with the Eagles and has started all 14 games this season. He has been a key part of the team’s success this season, helping the Eagles to a 13-1 record and the NFC East division title.
Mailata was born in Sydney, Australia, and played rugby before switching to American football. He was drafted by the Eagles in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Mailata is excited to spend Christmas with his family.
“I’m so excited to go home and spend Christmas with my family,” Mailata said. “It’s been a long time since I’ve been home, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone.”
Mailata’s family is also excited to have him home for Christmas.
“We’re so excited to have Jordan home for Christmas,” said Mailata’s mother, Mary. “It’s been too long since we’ve seen him, and we’re looking forward to spending some quality time with him.”
Mailata is expected to return to the Eagles after Christmas and participate in the team’s remaining two regular-season games. The Eagles will then have a bye week before the playoffs begin.
