Eagles Must Not Underrate Benin, Rwanda - Lawal

Nigeria’s Super Eagles coach has been made aware of the risk of underestimation against Benin and Rwanda in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Salisu Yusuf, the Eagles’ assistant coach, said this on Tuesday in Abuja while speaking with newsmen. “We must not underrate Benin and Rwanda,” Yusuf said. “They are both good teams with quality players. We must be at our best to get good results against them.”

Yusuf also said the Eagles would not be complacent, despite being the highest-ranked team in Group A. “We know that we are the favourites in the group,” he said. “But we will not be complacent. We will give every game our full attention.”

The Eagles will face Benin in their first match of the qualifiers on May 30 in Porto Novo. They will then host Rwanda in Abuja on June 13.

Nigeria is aiming to qualify for the 2023 AFCON, which will be held in Cote d’Ivoire.
