Ecuador midfielder Marco Angulo, 22, dies after being seriously injured in car crash
Tragic news from Ecuador as 22-year-old midfielder Marco Angulo has passed away following a car crash.
Angulo was seriously injured in the accident on Monday and underwent surgery, but sadly he was unable to recover.
The Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, expressing their condolences to Angulo's family and friends.
"The Ecuadorian Football Federation deeply regrets the passing of our youth player Marco Angulo, who suffered a traffic accident on Monday night," the statement read.
"We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, Marco."
Angulo was a rising star in Ecuadorian football and had represented his country at youth level.
He was currently playing for Independiente del Valle, one of Ecuador's top clubs.
The news of Angulo's death has been met with shock and sadness throughout the football community.

CONMEBOL, the South American football confederation, also expressed their condolences.
