Owls down Charlotte with balanced scoring attack

FAU advances to Saturday's semifinals

The FAU women's basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament on Thursday with a 72-56 win over Charlotte.

The Owls used a balanced scoring attack to overwhelm the 49ers, with five players scoring in double figures. Sophomore guard Amaya Ogisi led the way with 15 points, while sophomore forward Janeta Rozentale added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

FAU jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. The Owls led by 10 points at halftime and extended their lead to 20 points in the second half.

The win is FAU's second in the C-USA Tournament this week. The Owls defeated Old Dominion in the first round on Wednesday.

FAU will face No. 2 seed UTEP in the semifinals on Saturday. The Miners defeated UAB in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

The Owls are trying to reach the C-USA Tournament championship game for the first time since 2019.
