FC Cincinnati's Marco Angulo Dies From Injuries Sustained in October Car Crash
Promising Young Midfielder Was Just 20 Years Old
FC Cincinnati is mourning the loss of promising young midfielder Marco Angulo, who died from injuries sustained in a car crash on October 29th.
Angulo, 20, had been in a coma since the crash and never regained consciousness.
“This is a tragedy for our club and for Marco's family,” FC Cincinnati general manager Gerard Nijkamp said in a statement. “Marco was a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. He will be deeply missed by his teammates, coaches, and the entire FC Cincinnati organization.”
Angulo Was a Rising Star in MLS
Angulo was a key member of FC Cincinnati's midfield in 2022, starting 20 games and scoring two goals. He was also a member of the Ecuadorian national team at the youth level.
Angulo's death is a huge loss for FC Cincinnati and for MLS as a whole.
Angulo's Legacy Will Live On
While Angulo's life was cut short, his legacy will live on through the Marco Angulo Memorial Fund, which has been established to support young soccer players in Ecuador.
