Clemson Tigers Mauls Seminoles in Death Valley

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - In an ACC shocker, the Florida State Seminoles fell at home to the Auburn Tigers Saturday night, dropping to 1-2 on the season.

The game was tied at halftime, but Auburn scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter to take control of the game. Florida State could not recover, and Auburn held on for a 31-16 victory.

The loss is a major setback for Florida State, which was ranked No. 13 in the preseason AP Poll. The Seminoles are now 1-2 on the season, with their only win coming against a FCS opponent.

Auburn, meanwhile, improves to 2-1 on the season. The Tigers have now won two straight games after losing their season opener to Penn State.

Seminoles Offense Struggles Again

The Florida State offense struggled mightily against Auburn, managing just 282 total yards. Quarterback Jordan Travis was 18-of-34 passing for 191 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Running back Trey Benson led the Seminoles with 87 rushing yards on 15 carries. However, Florida State had just 91 rushing yards as a team.

The Seminoles also struggled in the red zone, going 1-for-4 on scoring opportunities.

Auburn Defense Dominates

The Auburn defense was dominant against Florida State, holding the Seminoles to just 16 points. The Tigers sacked Travis four times and intercepted him once.

Linebacker Owen Pappoe led the Auburn defense with 10 tackles. Defensive end Colby Wooden had two sacks and a forced fumble.

The Tigers also forced two turnovers on downs, which helped them control the tempo of the game.

Clemson Mauls Seminoles in Death Valley

The Florida State Seminoles suffered their second loss of the season Saturday night, falling to the Clemson Tigers 45-14 in Death Valley.

The Seminoles were outmatched from the start, as Clemson scored on its first four possessions to take a 28-0 lead in the second quarter.

Florida State finally got on the board with a touchdown pass from Jordan Travis to Johnny Wilson late in the second quarter, but Clemson answered right back with a touchdown of its own to take a 35-7 lead into halftime.

The Tigers continued to pour it on in the second half, scoring two more touchdowns to extend their lead to 45-7.

Florida State added a late touchdown on a pass from Travis to Ja'Khi Douglas, but it was too little, too late.

Another Dismal Offensive Performance

The Florida State offense struggled mightily against Clemson, managing just 265 total yards.

Travis was 16-of-33 passing for 194 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Benson led the Seminoles with 67 rushing yards on 12 carries.

The Seminoles also struggled in the red zone, going 1-for-5 on scoring opportunities.

Clemson Defense Stifles Seminoles

The Clemson defense was dominant against Florida State, holding the Seminoles to just 14 points.

The Tigers sacked Travis three times and intercepted him once.

Linebacker Trenton Simpson led the Clemson defense with eight tackles. Defensive end Myles Murphy had two sacks and a forced fumble.
