Indy Eleven's Romario Williams to Play for Jamaican National Team
Jamaican Roots
Romario Williams, a forward for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship, has been called up to the Jamaican national team for the upcoming friendlies against Catalonia and Morocco.
Williams, who was born in Jamaica and moved to the United States at a young age, has represented Jamaica at the youth level but has yet to make his senior debut.
Recognition for Success
Williams' call-up is a testament to his impressive form for Indy Eleven this season. In 24 appearances for the club, Williams has scored 12 goals and provided 6 assists, helping Indy Eleven to a playoff spot.
Williams' success at club level has not gone unnoticed by Jamaica's national team coach, Theodore Whitmore, who has been tracking Williams' progress for some time.
Proud Moment
For Williams, the call-up is a dream come true. He said, "It's a proud moment for me and my family. I've always wanted to represent Jamaica at the senior level, and now I have the opportunity to do so."
Williams is expected to join the Jamaican national team camp in the coming days ahead of the friendlies against Catalonia on June 7 and Morocco on June 11.
