Jerome Tang Not Surprised By Hausen's Hot Start
Kansas State's Tang sees freshman as 'special' following first three games
Hausen has come off the bench to provide a spark for the Wildcats early in the season
Kansas State coach Jerome Tang knew he had something special when he first saw Brendan Hausen play. The freshman guard from Overland Park, Kansas, was a late addition to the Wildcats' recruiting class, but he quickly made an impression on his coaches and teammates.
Through the first three games of the season, Hausen has come off the bench to average 12.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He has also shown a knack for making big plays, hitting several clutch shots and grabbing key rebounds in Kansas State's wins over Omaha, Southern Illinois and North Dakota.
"I'm not surprised at all by how he's played," Tang said. "He's a special player. He's got a great feel for the game and he can really shoot it. He's also a very unselfish player and he's always willing to make the extra pass.".
Hausen's hot start has helped Kansas State to a 3-0 record to start the season. The Wildcats will face their toughest test of the young season on Tuesday when they travel to Milwaukee to take on Marquette.
Tang is confident that Hausen will continue to play a key role for the Wildcats this season. He believes that Hausen has the potential to be one of the best players in the Big 12 Conference.
"He's got all the tools to be a great player," Tang said. "He's got the size, the athleticism and the skill. He just needs to continue to work hard and improve his game."
Hausen is excited about the opportunity to play for Kansas State. He believes that he can reach his full potential in Tang's system.
"I love playing for Coach Tang," Hausen said. "He's a great coach and he really cares about his players. He's helped me to become a better player and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish this season."
