LSU Men's Basketball Survives Upset Bid from Alabama State with Help from Transfer Guards
Transfer Guards Step Up for LSU
LSU men's basketball team narrowly escaped an upset bid from Alabama State on Monday night, relying on the heroics of their transfer guards to secure a 76-71 victory.
KJ Williams, a transfer from Murray State, led the way for the Tigers with 21 points, while Adam Miller, a transfer from Illinois, added 17 points. Both players played key roles down the stretch, making crucial shots to help LSU hold off the Hornets.
Alabama State Gives LSU a Scare
Despite being a heavy underdog, Alabama State gave LSU a run for their money. The Hornets led by as many as 10 points in the first half and held a slim lead for much of the second half.
Alabama State was led by the guard play of Isaiah Range and Jordan O'Neal. Range scored a game-high 22 points, while O'Neal added 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Tigers Pull Away Late
With just over five minutes remaining in the game, Alabama State still held a 65-63 lead. However, LSU went on a 9-0 run to take a 72-65 lead and never looked back.
The Tigers made their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory, improving their record to 9-2 on the season.
Transfer Guards Key to LSU's Success
The transfer guards have been a key part of LSU's success this season. Williams is averaging 14.4 points per game, while Miller is averaging 12.3 points per game.
Both players have provided LSU with much-needed scoring and playmaking ability, and they have helped the Tigers become one of the most dangerous teams in the SEC.
