Memphis basketball team defeats UNLV in a close game
The Memphis Tigers basketball team defeated the UNLV Rebels 62-59 in a close game on Tuesday night. The Tigers were led by senior forward Nick Jourdain, who had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Lester Quinones added 16 points, and freshman forward Jalen Duren had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Rebels were led by senior guard Bryce Hamilton, who had 20 points. Junior forward Donovan Williams added 12 points, and sophomore guard Keshon Gilbert had 10 points.
The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than seven points at any point. The Tigers took the lead for good with just over two minutes remaining in the game when Jourdain hit a jumper to give Memphis a 60-59 lead.

After the game, Memphis coach Penny Hardaway praised his team for their effort and execution down the stretch.
“I’m really proud of our guys,” Hardaway said. “They showed a lot of heart and toughness tonight. We made some big plays when we needed to, and we got the win.”
Jourdain and Jourdain were also happy with the win.
“It was a great team win,” Jourdain said. “We all played hard and together, and we got the job done.”
“This was a big win for us,” Jourdain added. “It gives us a lot of confidence moving forward.”
Memphis basketball is now 2-0 on the season
With the win, Memphis basketball is now 2-0 on the season. The Tigers will return to action on Friday night when they host the Murray State Racers.
