Badgers rally from 2-1 deficit to win, 3-2

The Gophers came into the match having won 15 straight matches, but the Badgers proved to be too tough an opponent.

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 3 Minnesota women's volleyball team had its 15-match winning streak snapped on Saturday night, falling to No. 7 Wisconsin in five sets (25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 20-25, 15-12).

The Gophers came into the match having won 15 straight matches, but the Badgers proved to be too tough an opponent.

The Badgers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the match and improve to 14-3 overall this season. The Gophers dropped to 15-2 with the loss.

Minnesota was led by sophomore opposite hitter Stephanie Samedy, who finished with 21 kills. Freshman middle blocker Regan Pittman added 15 kills and 10 blocks, and sophomore setter Kylie Miller had 52 assists.

The Badgers were led by senior outside hitter Dana Rettke, who finished with 22 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Grace Loberg added 18 kills and 12 digs, and senior setter Sydney Hilley had 53 assists.

The Gophers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 20, when they host No. 18 Purdue at the Pavillon. The match is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. CT and will be televised on ESPNU.
