Unilever Considers Selling Unox and Conimex Brands
Dutch multinational consumer goods company Unilever is considering selling its Unox and Conimex brands, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The sale of the two brands could fetch Unilever up to €1 billion ($1.1 billion), according to the report.
Unilever has been reviewing its portfolio of brands in recent years, and has already sold off a number of non-core assets, including its spreads business to KKR in 2018 and its tea business to CVC Capital Partners in 2021.
The sale of Unox and Conimex would be a further step in Unilever's efforts to focus on its core businesses, which include food, home care, and personal care.
Unox is a Dutch brand of canned and frozen soups, sauces, and snacks. Conimex is a Dutch brand of Asian food products, including sauces, spices, and noodles.
Both brands are well-known in the Netherlands and other European countries, but they are not as well-known in other parts of the world.
Unilever has not yet made a final decision on whether to sell Unox and Conimex, but the report by Bloomberg suggests that the company is seriously considering the sale.
If Unilever does decide to sell the two brands, it is likely to attract interest from a number of potential buyers, including private equity firms and food companies.
The sale of Unox and Conimex would be a significant event for Unilever, as it would mark the departure of two of the company's most well-known brands.
However, it would also be in line with Unilever's strategy of focusing on its core businesses and divesting non-core assets.
