VanderPloeg Puts Up Big Numbers in Home Opener; Rams Lose 68-56 to Edgewood
Cedar Springs’ VanderPloeg scores 26 in season debut
Tommy VanderPloeg put up big numbers in his season debut on Thursday night, leading the Cedar Springs Rams in scoring with 26 points. Unfortunately, his efforts weren’t enough to secure a win, as the Rams lost 68-56 to the visiting Edgewood Warriors.
Edgewood’s Size Proves Too Much for Rams
The Warriors’ size proved to be too much for the Rams, as they outrebounded Cedar Springs 40-25. Edgewood also got a big game from senior forward Ethan Clark, who scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Rams were led by VanderPloeg, who was 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. Senior guard Jason Cornell added 12 points for Cedar Springs.
Rams Fall to 0-1 on the Season
The loss drops the Rams to 0-1 on the season. They will look to rebound on Tuesday night when they travel to Kent City.
