German side's shock victory leaves Turkish giants reeling
VC Wiesbaden pulled off a stunning upset on Wednesday, defeating Turkish volleyball powerhouse Galatasaray S.K. in a thrilling five-set encounter in the CEV Volleyball Champions League.
The German side, making their first appearance in the competition's knockout stages, stunned the 12-time European champions with a 3-2 victory (25-17, 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-9) in front of a raucous home crowd.
Benedikt Frank leads Wiesbaden charge
German international Benedikt Frank was the star for Wiesbaden, leading the scoring with 22 points, including a crucial block in the decisive fifth set.
Wiesbaden's victory is a major shock in the European volleyball world, as Galatasaray is one of the continent's most successful clubs.
The Turkish side, coached by former Italian national team boss Massimo Barbolini, had won the Champions League twice in the past three seasons and was heavily favored to progress to the next round.

Wiesbaden's victory continues their fairytale run in this season's Champions League.
The German side, who only finished third in their domestic league last season, have now reached the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in their history.
They will now face another Turkish side, Fenerbahçe Opet, in the last eight.
