Wale to Host 'Gifted Week' Celebration of Hometown Talent and Culture in DC
Grammy-nominated rapper to showcase DMV area artists, businesses, and organizations
Washington, D.C. native and Grammy-nominated rapper Wale is set to host "Gifted Week," a week-long celebration of the DMV area's (DC, Maryland, Virginia) talent and culture. The event, which will be held from August 14th to 20th, will feature a variety of events, including concerts, art exhibitions, and panel discussions.
A celebration of DMV culture
Wale, who is known for his socially conscious lyrics and his love of his hometown, said that he created Gifted Week to celebrate the DMV area's rich culture and to provide a platform for local artists to showcase their work.
"I wanted to create an event that would celebrate everything that makes the DMV area special," Wale said. "We have so much talent and culture here, and I wanted to create a platform for it to shine."
Some of the events that will be held during Gifted Week include:
