Williams Companies to Join S&P 500; Dow Industrials Rise Modestly
Williams Companies to Replace Campbell Soup Co. in Index
NEW YORK, Aug 25 (Reuters) - The Williams Companies Inc (WMB.N) will replace Campbell Soup Co (CPB.N) in the S&P 500 index after the close of trading on Sept. 2, S&P Dow Jones Indices said on Thursday.
Campbell Soup will join the S&P MidCap 400 after the change, S&P Dow Jones Indices said.
Dow Industrials Edge Higher
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose slightly on Thursday, led by gains in shares of Boeing Co (BA.N) and Merck & Co (MRK.N), while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were little changed.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 33.96 points, or 0.1%, to end at 33,045.09, the S&P 500 lost 0.28 points, or 0.01%, to 4,159.31 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 28.18 points, or 0.22%, to 12,381.97.
