Williams To Make Jamaica National Football Team Debut
Jamaican-born forward earns first international cap
Indy Eleven forward Romario Williams has been called up to the Jamaican national team for the first time in his career.
The 23-year-old made history in 2023 when he became the first Jamaican to play in the USL Championship league.
Williams has been in impressive form for Indy Eleven this season, scoring three goals in 10 appearances.
He is expected to make his debut for Jamaica in a friendly match against Saudi Arabia on March 26.
Williams has represented Jamaica at youth level.
He played for the under-17s and under-20s before moving to the United States to pursue a college career.
He played college football and then joined USL club Birmingham Legion FC.
Williams was born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and moved to the United States when he was eight years old.
He attended high school in Florida and played college soccer at the University of Central Florida.
He is expected to be a key player for Jamaica in the upcoming CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The tournament will be held in the United States from June 26 to July 16.
