Melvin Will Join Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb in Fall 2023
Craig Melvin, a veteran NBC News correspondent and host, will become the next co-anchor of the "Today" show in the fall of 2023, NBCUniversal announced on Wednesday, October 5. Melvin, 44, has been with NBC News since 2011, serving as a correspondent for “Today” and anchor of “MSNBC Live” and “NBC Nightly News: Weekend.” Prior to joining NBC, he worked as a reporter and anchor at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina, and WBAL-TV in Baltimore, Maryland.
“I’m incredibly honored and humbled to have the opportunity to join Savannah and Hoda at the anchor desk of ‘Today,’” said Melvin. “This is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to start this new chapter in my career.”
Kotb Will Launch a New Hour of “Today” in 2023
As part of the changes announced by NBC, Hoda Kotb will step down from her role as co-anchor of “Today” in the fall of 2023. She will instead launch a new hour of “Today” that will air from 7 to 8 a.m. ET. The new hour will focus on in-depth interviews, human-interest stories, and lifestyle segments.
“I’m so excited about this new chapter in my life,” said Kotb. “I’ve always loved telling stories and connecting with people, and this new hour will give me the opportunity to do that in a whole new way.”
