Eagles notebook: The biggest test yet for Quinyon Mitchell
The undrafted rookie will start his second NFL game against the NFC's top-ranked defense
Quinyon Mitchell is set to make his second NFL start on Sunday when the Eagles host the San Francisco 49ers. The undrafted rookie will be tasked with protecting Jalen Hurts against the NFC's top-ranked defense.
Mitchell has been impressive in his limited action this season. He started the Eagles' Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys and played well in relief of Jordan Mailata in Week 18. He has not allowed a sack in his 54 pass-blocking snaps this season.
The 49ers' defense is a different beast, however. They have allowed the fewest points per game in the NFL this season and are tied for the most sacks. Mitchell will need to be at his best to keep Hurts upright.
Mitchell has a tough task ahead of him, but he is confident that he can get the job done.
"I'm just going to go out there and play my game," Mitchell said. "I'm not going to try to do too much. I'm just going to do my job and help the team win."
The Eagles are counting on Mitchell to step up in a big way on Sunday. He has the talent and the confidence to get the job done. It will be a tough test, but it is one that Mitchell is ready for.
