Sun Devils hit 13 threes, shoot 53.7% from the field in 81-65 victory

ASU improves to 10-3, while GCU falls to 6-6

TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State rode a hot-shooting performance to an 81-65 victory over Grand Canyon in a non-conference men's basketball game on Tuesday night at Desert Financial Arena.

The Sun Devils (10-3) hit a season-high 13 three-pointers and shot 53.7% from the field, including 60% in the second half.

GCU (6-6) was led by Jovan Blacksher Jr.'s 18 points, but the Lopes shot just 38.7% from the field and were outrebounded 41-29.

ASU was led by DJ Horne's 17 points, while Frankie Collins added 16 points and seven assists.

The Sun Devils took control of the game in the first half, hitting eight three-pointers and shooting 57.1% from the field to take a 43-29 lead at the break.

GCU chipped away at the lead in the second half, but ASU always had an answer, and the Sun Devils pulled away for the 81-65 victory.

ASU will return to action on Saturday when they host Colorado in a Pac-12 Conference game. GCU will next play on Thursday when they host New Mexico in a WAC game.
