Fangesang, Drums, Emotions: VC Wiesbaden in the European Cup
The women's volleyball team from VC Wiesbaden is back on the international stage after a long break.
With a 3:1 home win against the Greek champions PAOK Thessaloniki, the Bundesliga runner-up secured a place in the second round of the CEV Cup.
The match in numbers
Before the match, the Wiesbaden team had only played one competitive match this season, while PAOK had already played three competitive matches in the Greek championship and one international match in the CEV Champions League qualification.
Despite the lack of match practice, Wiesbaden started the match well and quickly took a 10:4 lead in the first set.
PAOK fought back and reduced the deficit to 18:20, but Wiesbaden was able to win the set 25:20.
The second set was also close, but in the end, PAOK was able to win it 26:24.
In the third set, Wiesbaden again took an early lead and this time did not let it slip.
The team won the set 25:21 and also took the lead in the fourth set.
PAOK fought back again and was able to equalize at 24:24.
However, Wiesbaden was able to win the next two points and thus the match 3:1.
The atmosphere in the hall
The atmosphere in the hall was fantastic.
The fans of VC Wiesbaden created a great atmosphere and supported their team throughout the match.
The drums and the singing of the fans were particularly impressive.
The fans played a major role in the victory of Wiesbaden.
The next round
In the second round of the CEV Cup, VC Wiesbaden will meet the Serbian champions ŽOK Ub.
The first leg will take place on November 15 in Wiesbaden, the second leg on November 22 in Ub.
VC Wiesbaden is confident of reaching the next round.
The team has a strong squad and has already shown in the first round that it can compete with the best teams in Europe.
