Wildcats to Play Competitive Schedule in First Season Under First-Year Head Coach Chris Klieman
Manhattan, Kansas –
kansas State football is poised to make a splash in the 2023 season with a competitive schedule and a new head coach at the helm. Chris Klieman, who led North Dakota State to four FCS national championships, will take over the Wildcats program
Klieman inherits a talented roster that includes several key playmakers on both sides of the ball. Senior quarterback Adrian Martinez, a transfer from Nebraska, will lead the offense, while senior defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah anchors the defense.
The Wildcats will open the season at home against South Dakota on September 2 before traveling to face Missouri in their Big 12 opener on September 9. Kansas State will also play host to Oklahoma, Texas, and TCU in conference play.
Kansas State football is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 season in which they finished 6-7 overall and 3-6 in Big 12 play. Klieman is confident that the Wildcats can compete for a bowl berth in his first season at the helm.
"We have a lot of talent on this team," Klieman said. "We're excited about the opportunity to compete for a championship."
The Wildcats will open the season on the road against South Dakota on September 2. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+
