Vinicius Misses Penalty As Brazil Held In Venezuela

Vinicius Junior had a penalty saved as Brazil were held to a 0-0 draw by Venezuela in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

The Real Madrid forward missed from the spot in the 33rd minute after being brought down by Venezuela goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez.

Brazil dominated the match but couldn't find a way past a determined Venezuela side, who defended resolutely and rarely threatened going forward.

The result leaves Brazil top of the South American qualifying group with 35 points from 16 matches, while Venezuela are ninth with 10 points.

Brazil will now face Colombia in Barranquilla on Sunday, while Venezuela will host Ecuador in Caracas.

In other matches on Thursday, Argentina beat Uruguay 1-0 in Montevideo, while Ecuador drew 1-1 with Peru in Quito.

Colombia moved up to third place in the standings with a 1-0 win over Bolivia in La Paz, while Paraguay beat Chile 2-0 in Asuncion.
